Rules for Swimmers

  • Be on time for practices and meets.  Warming up is important!
  • Do not go in the water until told to do so by your coaches.
  • Use restrooms before practice
  • Be respectful towards your coaches and teammates, as well as other teams.
  • Use of diving boards during practice is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not use starting blocks unless instructed to do so by the coaches.
  • The baby pool is off limits during practices and meets.
  • Do not leave the pool deck without permission.

Meet Rules for Swimmers

  • Arrive at meets not later than 5:00pm for home meets and 5:30 pm for away meets. CHECK IN with volunteer, and get race assignments listed on the back of your hand. Failure to do so may affect that swimmer’s meet eligibility.
  • If a swimmer misses a meet without appropriate prior notice, or says he/she will be there and does not show without a warning or emergency reason, they will be penalized from participating in "for point" events at the next meet he/she attends. He/she will still be required to attend the next scheduled meet and will be expected to cheer for his/her teammates as well as warm-up with the team. We understand that problems and emergencies arise, if this happens please contact the Head Coach at the soonest possible moment to avoid said penalty.
  • STAY in your team area so that you can be ready for your events and can be easily found. If you leave the area without permission, you will not be eligible for the next swim meet. Team area for home meets is on the concrete pad next to the slide.
  • Away meets – We will find and designate a team area. It is especially important during away meets to stay together. Please do not have your child sit with you in the stands or in another area.       The seeders have a very difficult time locating the children for the events.   Keeping the swimmers in one place helps the seeders tremendously and avoids the chance of having to forfeit a race because a swimmer couldn’t be found.
  • NO FOOD or DRINKS (except water in non-glass container) are permitted on deck.  Do not purchase your swimmer food during meets.
  • Do not leave before the end of the meet. Cheer for your team's swimmers!
  • DO NOT put hands, feet, or other objects in the pool when you are not racing; this will result in a team disqualification!
  • Attendance at practices and meets will override swimming skill/speed in line-up considerations. Emergency/Family/Vacation excuses are sufficient in not affecting line-up consideration if a coach is notified.
  • If the weather is questionable, call the Seadog hotline (number?) for up-to-date information about meet cancellation. Remember, if it’s raining, the meet will proceed. If there is lightning or thunder, the meet may be delayed. Do not assume a meet is cancelled without first checking.
  • Remember that the Seadogs Swim Club is a team sport – swimmers should be sitting together and should cheer on their fellow teammates. When your child is involved in baseball/softball, soccer, football, basketball or any other team sport, you don’t see players eating on the bench or sitting in the stands with spectators. Swimming is no different.
